Ben Goldfarb Author of Crossings and Eager at Teller Wildlife Refuge

We are excited to welcome award winning author Ben Goldfarb to Teller Wildlife Refuge 7pm June 19th to present on his latest book Crossings: How Road Ecology is Shaping the Future of Our Planet.  Some 40 million miles of roadways encircle the earth. The United States, home to the world’s longest road network, accounts for 4 million of those miles, and though pavement covers less than 1 percent of the total landmass of the United States, its ecological influence, known as the “road-effect zone,” covers 20 percent. In Crossings, conservation journalist Ben Goldfarb (winner of the 2019 PEN/E.O.Wilson Literary Science Writing Award, and author of Eager a favorite of Chapter One's Marisa) explores the science of road ecology, the study of how roads and their attendant traffic patterns affect the lives of plants and animals.
